Well, VBS 2011 is over and it was a Super Fun time! Our Hero Headquarters theme was a success as we learned how to be heroes in our lives. We danced, sang, played silly games, made cool crafts, ate yummy snacks, and learned about some great unnamed heroes of the Bible. We practiced being heroes during VBS by collecting coins and empty cans, and we raised $50 to help makeover the Firewalker Hall! We also did super fun stuff, like have a Hero Handshake day, a Hero Catchphrase day, and a Hero Costume day! The kids all got very creative with their hero identities and superpowers! Here’s a glimpse into our week:
We had fun, for sure, but the best part of the week is that 14 kids gave their lives to the Lord! And 11 of them joined forces with God for the first time EVER! Hooray!! So be on the lookout, because there are 57 new heroes on the loose in Massachusetts!

VBS is almost here! And this year’s theme is Hero Headquarters! We’re going to have a super time learning about little know Bible heroes, making awesome crafts, singing fun songs, eating delicious snacks, and more! Don’t miss out! VBS is July 18-22, 8:30am-12pm, ages 4-12 are welcome, and registration ends July 3rd. Cost is $35 per child, and includes a t-shirt. To help defray the cost of VBS, we ask for donations of materials. The list is available here. If you can donate something, please type your name next to it and bring it to the church as soon as possible. Thank you!
We are also still looking for helpers and teachers! If you can help out, or if you have any questions, please see Ashley Webster.
April KIDS Church

April KIDS Church was a great time as we learned that we can hear from God, no matter our age. Silly Willy’s identical cousin Fast Freddy came by and showed us that hearing from God doesn’t require dressing like Moses and lighting a bush on fire. We learned that God speaks to us through His Word (the Bible), other people, and that still small voice in our hearts. Samuel and Eli re-enacted their famous Bible story for us to show that no matter how old or young we are, we can hear from God.
We wrapped up our teaching time by putting our memory verse into action “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” Jeremiah 33:3. It was a sweet time of worship and prayer among the kids. Our day ended with snack and a game of telephone with an active twist. This week we also made a fun announcement: Because there are a handful of children who have known every memory verse since November, if they continue memorizing the verses through June, they will be awarded a special prize in front of their parents!
February KIDS Church

We had another great KIDS Church this month! Our CSI theme ended last month, so this month we learned that “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). Our favorite puppet, Silly Willy, learned that listening to the Bible doesn’t mean using headphones! We learned that, just like with the three little pigs, our faith house will be strong if we read and follow the Word of God. A silly skit showed us that having a Bible and not reading it is like ordering delicious food at a restaurant but just looking at it. It was great to see some of the kids really understanding the power of the Word. When asked why we should read the Bible often, one girl answered that “if we don’t read the Bible for a while we get far from God and don’t feel Him.”
After learning about Jesus using Scripture to combat the Devil, we made valentine magnets to take home and wrote cards for some members of the congregation who are struggling with illnesses. Our quiet seat prizes this week went to two of our younger kids, Julianna and Tai! Good job, guys!
January KIDS Church

Well, our January KIDS church only had about 15 kids due to a major snow storm the night before, but we still had a lot of fun. We learned about the Great Commission and how to “make disciples.” The kids competed in a crossword puzzle. We had another funny skit with Silly Willy and had yummy ice cream cups.

Hello everyone! Today, we had our first KIDS church of the 2009-2010 school year. Our “junior investigators” at CSI (Christ Seen Investigations) had a great time singing, dancing (or jumping), learning, eating, and playing. Today’s lesson was about a slightly difficult concept: Jesus as the Lamb of God. It was a little difficult teaching all age groups about animal sacrifices and how Jesus took the place of a lamb and was the ultimate sacrifice, especially since I didn’t want to scare the youngest of the young, but the Holy Spirit led me to just mention it briefly and focus more on Jesus’ “payment of sin” for all people. We played a game of “Believe it or Not” and learned some interesting facts. We used it to teach the children that there are many myths and lies out there and they need to know that the Bible is not a myth..it is TRUTH! It was a great time with the children. Our two new songs “Jumping for Joy” and “King of the Jungle” are awesome, and I love seeing the children truly jumping around for joy! Our camera died today, but we did manage to get a few pictures. See you all at our next KIDS church on November 8th. In the meantime, stay tuned for information about our upcoming GLOW Party/Harvest Night on October 31st. God Bless!

April KIDS Church!

Our Palm Sunday KIDS Church was wonderful! We had a short time of worship and worked on learning the motions to “Celebrate Jesus Celebrate” to perform on Resurrection Sunday.
In honor of the season, we had a New Life theme. The lesson started with a “guess who” game. The children had to guess who had their life changed from the clues given. They then learned about Nicodemus and what it means to be born again. We had a group of about 10 young children come forward to accept the new life that Jesus offers! Praise God!
Snack was an “angel” made from marshamallows and swedish fish, sort of like the angel who told the women that Jesus had risen from the dead. By far, the funnest part of the day was making salvation bracelets. These simple bracelets have only 6 beads, but each symbolizes a different part of the salvation message.
Yellow is for Heaven, which God created so that we could live with Him forever. Black is for the sin that separates us from God and keeps us from Heaven. Red represents the blood that Jesus shed on the cross to cover our sins. White is how God sees our hearts because of the blood of Jesus. Green stands for the New Life we have in Jesus. Blue is for water and shows that we need to be baptized to show all that Jesus has done for us, and tell everyone about the New Life Jesus offers.
